HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The proposed deportations of some Somalilanders and other Somali speakers currently in the United Kingdom has been put on old.

This was revealed by the Somaliland minister of Resettlement and Rural Rehabilitation-MR&RR Ahmed Abdi Kahin during a briefing to Somalilandsun and Star TV at the Egal international airport in Hargeisa upon return from a fortnight’s official visit to UK where he held consultations with government officials and British Somalilanders.

In further elaboration of discussions pertaining to the proposed deportations the resettlement minister said, “We urged the UK authorities to stop the plans and only facilitate voluntary returns” thus putting on hold any force induced return of some citizens from the British Isles.

Accordingly the minister informed that the plea to stop forced return was not only due to the manner in which the Hargeisa based authorities view the subject but the difficulties the returnees will face on arrival considering that most are from Somali thence to have been deported to Somaliland due to the insecurity prevalent in their country.

In Conclusion the MR&RR boss Ahmed Abdi Kahin revealed that agreement was also reached on the need to avail livelihood opportunities for most people from the Horn of Africa rather than deportations which shall only end in misery.
