LONDON (Somalilandsun) – Britain’s Cordial relations with Somaliland was the issue of discussions between UK premiere David Cameron and president Silanyo at 10th Downing Street.

The meeting that also saw the British foreign and Commonwealth secretary Rt Hon William Hague , Somaliland foreign minister Dr Mohamed Abdilahi Omar and presidency minister Hirsi Haji Ali in attendance ensued with the two leaders concurring on enhanced cooperation in various fronts.

Prime Minister Cameron promised his government’s support in talks with Somalia following a briefing by President Silanyo on the seven points Ankara communique that was as a result of meeting between Somaliland and Somalia hosted by the Turkish government in Ankara on 13 April.

According to sources the closed door meeting reinforced arrangements made between the two countries during meetings president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo held with the Rt Hon William Hague, at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London on 11 February visit to London.

These arrangements include the continuation of UK’s generous assistance to Somaliland, especially as pertains to support in fostering investment, improving the security sector and enhancing democratic governance.

Other areas agreed upon were enhanced cooperation in the war on terror and anti-piracy activities which the Hargeisa administration excels in and remains vital to Somaliland’s development and the region’s stability.

President Silanyo who flew to London after talks with president Hasan of Somalia will also meet and brief British Somalilanders before proceeding to Washington DC for discussions with the Obama administration that extended an official invitation in February this year.
