HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Several development projects were launched in Dilla and Borame Districts.
The president H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo is visiting the country’s western region of Awdal where he has already undertake several development related projects like opening public infrastructures and ground breaking for others in Dilla and Borame towns.
Residents of the various towns on the way from Hargeisa to Borame received the presidential entourage warmly, mostly with green twigs that symbolize respect.
Before embarking to Borame, the president and his entourage had a stopover at Dilla where he commissioned a 6km tarmac road linking the town with Borame funded by the central government.
The president who thanked Dilla residents for partaking in nation building activities said that that both the regional and central governments are committed to supporting any community fronted projects geared towards poverty alleviation.
Resident’s of Borame the Awdal regional capital city received the presidential entourage with song and dance before witnessing various activities conducted by the head of state in their town.
President Silanyo official cut the tape to tarmac road which inter-connects several estates of Borame town and funded by the local municipality before he laid the foundation stone at the site of a new Awdal regional state house which shall be utilized in hosting guests of the regional government.
Addressing the thousands of Awdalites who attended the numerous functions the head of state said,
“I thank you very much for the warm welcome accorded my entourage. I am visiting you for the third time in order to acquire first hand information on your achievements and constraints. As you are also aware my administration is committed to improving livelihoods at all levels and to this effect I hereby reaffirm my determination to see to it that you, Somalilanders, do not suffer at any one given time for what is within reach of the government to provide”
The presidential entourage consists of first lady Amina Sheikh M Jirde, the ministers of the presidency, Education, Labour &Social services, Industry, Public works, Fisheries and Finance as well as the deputy ministers of Education and Information
