Somaliland: VP Sayli to Brief Swedish Somalilanders

ADDIS ABABA (Somalilandsun) – The Vice president is set to meet with Swedish Somalilanders following his departure for the Scandinavian country.

Hon Abdirahman Ismail Sayli accompanied by his delegation left the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa where they have been for a couple of day’s en-route to Sweden. The VP’s delegation which is includes the Director General in the ministry of public works, Deputy Gabile mayor Ms Kadra Haji Galayd and political advisor to president Silanyo had travelled to Addis Ababa from Djibouti.

The VP who is on a seven days visit to Sweden courtesy of an invitation from Swedish Somalilanders will during he stay meet and brief his countrymen on prevalent issues in Somaliland related to security, Economy, Somalia talks etc., is also expected to meet a number of Swedish government officials.

During his stay in Ethiopia the VP led delegation had the opportunity to meet with diplomats from various African and other countries based in Addis Ababa especially during festivals to mark the Swedish Independence Day on the 7th June 2012.

During the celebrations at the Swedish embassy in Addis Ababa where the VP had been official invited by the Swedes, shoulder rubbing with various personalities ensued in unofficial discussions that pertained to diverse issues related to Somaliland’s quest for international recognition.

Prior to his departure for Ethiopia the VP managed to score a number of diplomatic coups in Djibouti where he had led a strong delegation that included ministers and members of parliament. The achievements of the trip that was as a result of an official invitation from the Djibouti Pm Hon Dileita Mohamed Dileita included:

• Official recognition of the Somaliland passport as a valid travel document for entry to Djibouti

• Promises by Djibouti President H.E Ismail Omar Gelle to support and solicit foreign investors for Somaliland.

• Exchange of official consular officers among others

It is hoped that the Vice president Hon Abdirahman Ismail Sayli will achieve similar success during his sojourn to the Scandinavian country.
